Statement

Ella Bertilsson’s multi-disciplinary practice stages installations as a form of enquiry into bizarre and quotidian events that shape character and identity. She investigates poignant and mundane experiences of daily life to reveal fragmented narratives through her printed works. Humour and acerbic wit are tonally imbued, representing classic coping strategies and mechanisms. Moving between the Personal and the Universal, Bertilsson’s practice seeks to reimagine art historical tropes such as Absurdism, Surrealism and Dadaism to form a contemporary treatise on the human condition.
