Clare Marie is a visual artist who investigates narratives through the medium of printmaking and drawing. While her work is primarily paper-based, her professional experience with digital media has informed her artistic practice to question and push the boundaries of the visual narrative. Her recent work explores the notion of ‘hybrid prints’ – the marriage of the traditional craft of printmaking with the digital world – particularly in the forms of digital collage, animation and video projection. She is interested in the tension that arises from using traditional techniques to portray contemporary culture. Clare’s imagery often delves on themes and subjects that include Gender Politics, Dystopia, Body Horror, Technology and Isolation. Her work adopts an inventive approach towards medium and has a satirical portrayal of modern society and the human condition.
