Selected artists will discuss their prints and engagement with the Witness Tree Folio commission alongside the scientists involved in the TCD Witness Tree project, a 5-minute short film on the project will also be screened. This will be followed by a reception in the Botany Library and Foyer.

In November 2025, Black Church Print Studio announced an Art/Science commission opportunity in collaboration with Trinity College Dublin Botanical Gardens. This collaboration focused on Trinity College Dublin’s ‘Witness Tree Project’, for which Black Church artists were invited to create a limited edition folio set of 21 prints.

Black Church artists were given guided tours of the TCD Herbarium, and the TCD Botanical Garden to learn more about their Witness Tree Project, and work carried out by the TCD Botany Department. Following these visits, Black Church artist were invited to create prints in response to the 21 trees included in the Witness Tree Project.

Earlier this year, artist Brian Fay selected 21 prints which feature a variety of printmaking techniques including etching, aquatint, chine collé, screenprinting, ecoprinting, woodcut, digital print, relief, drypoint, photo intaglio, and carborundum.

The Witness Tree Folio of 21 prints will be presented in a custom box created by Éilís Murphy (Folded Leaf) and a limited edition will be available for sale.
