Jane Ellis

Biography

Jane Ellis is a visual artist and printmaker based in Dublin. Jane graduated with First Class Honours BA (Hons) in Fine Art from IADT Dun Laoghaire Co Dublin in 2021. She was the recipient of an Arts Council Agility Award in 2022 and has exhibited widely in a number of group shows, including LHQ Gallery Cork, and Galleria Ratamo Finland. Artist’s residencies include The Burren College of Art in 2023. Jane was selected by Catherine O ‘Riordan of SO Fine Art Editions for her first solo exhibition, which ran successfully through Artnet DLR in Walters in Dun Laoghaire in 2023.

 

Statement

Jane Ellis is a printmaker in Black Church Print Studio, Dublin. Working primarily with wood block printing, linocut and ‘Mokuhanga’. In this body of prints, Jane is influenced by the natural cycles of the earth. Starting with observational sketches, Jane attempts to capture the simplicity of line and colour that emerge through the printmaking process. Jane aims to bring energy and fluidity to some of her works by using contrasting areas of relief print with other media.
