Biography
Alexandra Cobzaru is a multidisciplinary artist based in Dublin, primarily specialising in printmaking (intaglio etching) and painting. She recently graduated in 2025 from the National College of Art with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art. Her degree show has been shortlisted for the Visual Artist Awards and shortlisted for the RDS Dean Group Commission award in 2025. Her work was featured in the “Belong” 2025 December exhibition, where she was showcased among other emerging international artists.
Statement
Alexandra’s current body of work explores her identity, cultural heritage, and the preservation of the past through making. Her work is a continuous journey reflecting on a personal journey inspired by our ancestors. We uncover our heritage, identity, past, and memory. The work emphasises the relationship between the individual and their heritage roots. The process of keeping the memories of the self and homeland alive can be encapsulated in the term “remembrance”. The work is also influenced by nature, memory, and the passage of time.
