Viola Chiang

Biography

Tzu Ning Chiang (Viola Chiang) was born in Taipei, Taiwan, lives and works in Venice, Italy. She is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice employs a variety of media. She graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia and has undertaken the Erasmus programs in National Academy of Art of Sofia in Bulgaria and LUCA School of Arts in Brussels, Belgium. Member of Black Church Print Studio, Dublin, Ireland. Her work has been exhibited in Italy, Ireland, UK, Greece, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Norway, Austria, Sweden, Bulgaria, Poland, Belgium, Germany, Serbia, Lithuania, Netherlands and Egypt. In 2022 she started her personal Studio Violatipia in Fondamenta San Giacomo 212/C 30133 Venice, Italy which is a self-publisher and experimental studio between printmaking and photography to make books and publications to discuss “Book as an object”, “Image as a fossil between time and light” to express new narratives. Her first official solo show took place in Linenhall Arts Centre Gallery, Castlebar, Co.Mayo.

Statement

Tzu Ning Chiang (Viola Chiang) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice employs a variety of media including collage, print, photography, typography, sculpture and installation to discuss eco- friendly between printmaking and photography to connect geology and deep time. Chiang is interested in discussing human interactions with the environment to connect printmaking with artist books, publications.
