Printmaking Workshop: Loreto on the Green

Drypoint & Etching Workshop

Loreto on the Green

In November 2025, a group of students from Loreto College, St. Stephen’s Green visited Black Church Print Studio to take part in a drypoint and etching workshop.

Under the guidance of tutors David McGinn, Maya Brezing and assisted by Olivia Boylan (ex Loretto Student now studying in NCAD and working as part of her Studio+ year in Black Church Print Studio), the students created images on drypoint and copper plates using their own original artwork. They then printed these plates in the etching workshop in BCPS.

The students were also given a guided tour of the building and facilities, which also gave them an opportunity to see prints by professional artist members.

The workshop was brilliant and the students absolutely loved it! They really enjoyed being in a working studio environment. They especially loved using the big printing presses and they were delighted with the results of their prints. David was so patient with the students and created a really warm, friendly and relaxing atmosphere. The fact that one of our past pupils, Olivia Boylan, is studying print and doing an internship at Black Church, is testament to the impact of the experience of being exposed to the studio environment while still in school
